Vermeer 54xl Density Pressure Too High

I set my pressure at the green/yellow range, but after an hour or 2 of baling the pressure creeps up to red.  I can turn it down and lower it, but in another 30 minutes to hour of baling it is back in red and i can't seem to turn the knob to lower pressure.  If i stop baling for 30 minutes or so the pressure will drop back down into the low green or even lower.

 

Any ideas as to why pressure climbs after baling for a while, but then drops back down after letting it rest a while?  I rolled about 15 rolls with pressure right at the red, and a lower drive roller bearing went out, the 2 could be related and i dont want to damage belts or bearings with pressure to high.
