Hello, looking for opinions, this year we have a lot of thick tall grass, timothy and bromes mostly, with clover and alfalfa mixed in, heavy here, light there. We have used a Hesston 745 successfully for 8 seasons, making 4'w x 5' diameter bales, works well on the trailer and in the barn. We have used a Kubota M9000 since new in '03 it is a good machine, do not want to change.
Problem is, when the hay is thick in the windrow, you have to go really slow or the baler plugs up.
When the windrows are high and wide, I'm talking creep speeds, or suffer a plug up.
I'm running at 540 pto speed (2,240 rpm tractor shows 540) other than that, the baler works quite well, twine only, every 10 to 15 bales or so depending on hay condition, you should clean out the knife area so the dual twine cuts cleanly.'
Electronic unit pc board is shot, doing the tying manually with dpdt switch.
Looking at trading this unit to a new Vermeer 605N, or a comparable unit from John Deere.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
upgrading baler maybe
