wheel rake front wheels removal

I did a haytalk google search for this question, but no luck.

 

I'm looking for a new to me wheel rake.  I'm used to roll bar rakes.  I found a Vermeer WR24 in really good condition.  It's a 12 wheel.

 

My MoCo is a 10 ft cut.  I believe this rake will be too big when I want to just take 2 swaths, right?

Can I remove the front set of wheels to take it down to a 8 wheel?  Will it throw some balance off of the rake at all?
