Few New Holland cutter bar questions.

Was changing the blades on the H7450 this morning and noticed a few of the lifters are getting holes in them.. I was wondering if a can get by without lifters, I'm sure it's quite a bit cheaper to buy new nuts bolts and cups then new lifters?? BTW, who designed the lifter bolts?? Gonna have to cut them all out I guess since they have been rounded off by crops.
Also the turtles are getting a little thin, how many of y'all rotate them to get more use out of them?
