Picked up a used JD 348

I found a used John Deere 348 barn kept. I had to go 180 miles to get it. I have a few questions. First off it was parked inside in 2001 and never used since.


I opened the reservoir for hydraulic tension and the level was only one inch in the bottom and really thick nasty oil. The filter was collapsed so I removed it and cleaned it up. I'm wondering if the oil leaked out over the last 15 years.


The multi-luber was also 1/3 full of thick grease. I pumped the pump several times and no grease came out. In the owners manual it says to use Multi-luber lubricant. I wondering over time it just got thick.


And here is the serial number wondering what year the baler is the owners manual never said.
