Case 5100 Grass Box Tubes

Hi there, I looking to hear what other alfalfa/hay growers with case 5100 style drills have done with the small box seed tubes. 

I like the drill and mine is in good shape but the small seed tubes seem to clog and give me grief from time to time. I'm thinking of just removing them and letting the alfalfa seed fall where it may. 

I pull a spike tooth packer behind the drill as well.
