Anyway, I'd like to bring one in from out there if one can't be found locally. May be advantageous in that it's a drier climate and the baler may be better than an eastern baler. I think I can get a good one with 15-30k bales on it in the 15-18 range. Figuring on 2-3 for transport. So I'm thinking 20k budget to get it here.
Now comes the background and question: my 7495 will pull it and stop it reasonably well on flat ground, but my dealer, MM Weaver, thinks it'll require brakes for the hills I'm on and "roading" the baler. My 7495 has air trailer brakes and hydraulic trailer brakes ready to use.
So, I started looking for one of the single axle "one ton balers" with brakes......nadda one available. MM Weaver estimates $10,000 for brakes. They were available as an option on the Heston 4910 and a similar Massey baler. I guess I could sell my 7495 and for $10,000, just buy a bigger tractor. However, I really like it and would rather not start that process all over again. I got a nice deal on it.
My question is: Should I try to find an independent equipment specialist to install air brakes on a 4x4 baler? Is it even possible? Do they make generic kits? Obviously I will keep looking for one being sold with factory brakes, but if I can't find one, this could be an option I may have to consider. Could end up with 25-30k in the baler. Other balers with steerable tandems and/or brakes are out of my budget or require a 200-250HP tractor.

Reasonable project?
