Looking for a round baler, either JD or Vermeer. No longer able to deal with loading, hauling and storing squares. Why are Vermeer balers so much heavier, bigger than comparable JD balers? According to Richie Specs the Vermeer 504M weighs 6000 and the JD 458 weighs 3820, the Vermeer 604M weighs 7000 and the JD 468 weighs 4100. Are the designs that much different? Metal gauge?
Have had custom guys with both brands bale my rounds for years, both have done good jobs in my fields, just don't understand.
