Rock Picking / Feild Reseeding Result

Fixing up a 10 acre field for a neighbour. Plowed last year, disced and harrowed several times in the fall. Dug out the big rocks with the pallet forks and carted them off, better than 100 of the big boys. Borrowed a rock bucket to dig out the 100 lb rocks to save my back.

Rock picked about 25 hours by hand into the tractor bucket with tractor in low gear. Limed at 2 tons per acre.

Spring work included 100 lbs per acre of urea via the Vicon wig-wag spreader.

Sick of rock picking this spring, I bought an old Leon reel type rock picker and fixed it up. Ran it almost 20 hours on the 10 acres. Could fill it in a 200 ft long pass in some areas.

Harrowed with S-tine with C-tine drag harrow behind.

Kept plugging C-tine harrow with rocks

Finally started to get the basket ball sized rocks tamed with the picker after 2 passes with harrow

Then the picker had a boo-boo

A new hub and the grinder powered by an invertor fixed that. Had to use 3 point to pick up picker as it was full of rock.

Then broke a pin on the loader using the rock bucket as a bit of a bull dozer.

Got the brillion on an planted until 1:15 am before a rain.

Hand picking is on going to get the rocks the brillion couldn't push down. The field owner has a nice little Kubota side by side with air conditioning.
