Hose reel irrigation repair?

I have an old Bauer Rainstar reel that I irrigate with. The poly pipe is starting to split where it connects to the gun cart. Pipe is 4.25” x 1200’, haven’t priced new and am afraid I don’t want to know the cost!
Thinking of cutting off last foot and reconnecting need some advice. Gonna try to post pics
