New Holland 1499 swather sickle bar timing

I have a NW 1499 swather with dual sickle bars. I did some work on the drive line and I think the sickles may be out of timing as they do not align perfectly at the center and do not move in unison out to sides or into the center.  Is this an issue that could cause problems?  Seems to work OK but leaves a tuft of grass in the center while cutting?
