Automatic chain oiler, chain oil

I have a John Deere 854 baler and have been using the John Deere lubricant for the automatic oiler. I would like to use something else that would be cheaper and still do the same job, would bar and chain oil for chain saws work? Is there something else you guys are using. Any help is appriciated.
