JD 385 won't dump bale

Good morning all,

 

I was hoping to get some insight on an issue we have been having with a JD 385 baler. We can't get it to dump a bale.

 

It's a used piece that was bought a couple years ago. I don't know the hours nor was there much of a maintenance history to go along with it. We have since replaced the tensioning valve (whole box) with a new unit as well as rebuilt both lift cylinders. Functionally it bales great. No issues with hay pick up, alternating size, tying. Just dumping.

 

The lift gate has a noticeable dead spot in it of about 6". On a slight incline most times the bale will dump simply due to the angle but the gate still doesn't raise all the way. However on any flat ground someone has to manually push the lift gate up about 8-10" to get the bale to dump.  We thought rebuilding the cylinders would do the trick. I've watched Youtube vids of other balers and there is definitely something amiss on ours as it just doesn't raise high enough to trigger the ramp.

 

Tractor is a 2014 JD 5085E. 

 

Any insight or areas to look into would be greatly appreciated!
