I have a SITREX rp-5 which is a 3 point 5 wheel rake. Picked it up for cheap at an auction thought it would be good for smaller fields or wheel parts for the other rake. My problem is I apparently don't know how to operate it. When you're in a swath that isn't dead straight and you make a correction with the steering wheel to stay in the swath the rake will swing to the outside of the turn and miss half the swath or better. It is extremely frustrating and I believe the issue to be just because it is a 3 point but if people use these things I can't imagine they haven't figured out a way around this. I don't want to just rake everything completely straight because I would either have inconsistent windrows which is unacceptable or I would have to mow dead straight all the time which would be more of a hassle than it is worth. I'm talking the smallest direction change and you leave half the swath. Correcting the front of the tractor 6 inches and you have a sloppy, very crooked windrow with half the swath untouched. In a square 20 acre field I don't think this would be much of an issue, but I use a v-rake for those. I wanted to use this rake for small 5-8 acre fields that normally have an odd shaped perimeter and it can get to be a hassle to maneuver a larger v-rake around in. If this is not possible I guess I bought some good spare wheels for the v-rake for cheap. Any ideas?
