Gear Box Failure - 555XL

The gear box in my Vermeer 555XL baler seems to have broken. It made a loud sound while baling. One loud crack and the bailer stopped turning. I had to finish with my dad's Rancher baker.
The input shaft turns but the output shaft does not.

Has anyone had this happen before?
Is there an easy fix or do I have to replace the whole gear box?
