Came across the air bag systems the other day. Picked up some parts today at Farm and Fleet and ordered an airbag as well (already got the portable tank painted up John Deere green! I have an old reliable 24t baler that's getting the conversion. We use bale baskets so I'm curious if anyone else out there with an airbag setup using bale baskets and how much air they go through? I'm wondering if I should just get a second portable tank that would be used to refill the main portable tank, or wire up a compressor. Each time you unhook a wagon there will be some additional air going into the bag from the portable tank to keep the pressure at regulated setting and then coming out of the regulator as pressure will increase slightly when you let the bales come back down the slide and get rolling again. Also wondering if adjustment is needed in pressure until the basket is loaded with bales? I'm hoping that it's a set it and forget it deal as so many others have commented about once they get rolling in the spring. Really hoping I don't have to get off the tractor multiple times to check how the bales are with this setup and bale baskets.
