Five acres of 70/30 alfalfa grass lodged after a heavy storm. It was down a week before i could get into the field to cut it. Tilted the cutter bar down a bit and slowed down some. The rows with the lodge left stems 10-12" long. The other way left a nice stubble. Never left such a rough looking field. Will the long stems inhibit regrowth from the crown. Coming out of winter there are long stems but they are dormant. I dont think that my rotary has enough suction to lift and trim the long stems off. The other fields have a larger percentage of grass and remained standing.
Thanks guys, i have learned a lot from your collective experiences.
Lodged alfalfa regrowth?
