Hay rake teeth location

IH 15 side dump rake needs new teeth I bought them they're the metal ones and got aftermarket holders but they're the wrong direction... So my question is can you put the teeth on the back side of the bar or does it need to be on the front. Obviously the front is the way it's designed but will it work the other way.
