Another crop saver question

So I kind of goofed up and left 1/3 of a 55g drum of crop saver outside all last fall/winter/spring. Long story short, I stored the barrel in between two buildings late last summer in partial sunlight and forgot about it.
I was told was not to store it in direct sunlight. My salesman said he thinks it should be fine, but I had a new drum just delivered and it's much deeper green than the barrel I left outside. Is the green pigment only to make the hay look greener?
Or is this an indicator that the crop saver has gone bad?
