My new field water problem

Hey guys I just started farming a 43 acres field with a pivot for irrigation. The field is pretty smooth I had to do a little cutting and filling. The problem is my new ground doesn't absorb water very well sandy loam soil half of the field does really good and the other half not so much. I did a deep ripping and all that stuff and planted piper Sudan grass. I have been fertilizing through the pivot so a good application. Is there anything that will help with the soil taking watering. I only put .4 of inch water down and it just doesn't go in. Any help please. Thank You in advance
