I've got a John Deere sickle bar mower and I feel the "safety release" on the bar releases too easily. Whenever the cutting gets tough, it releases and the bar swings back and I have to back up to force it to catch again. Putting a big wrench on the nut in question does not enable me to tighten it--I can't turn the nut.
Can anyone advise me how one is able to modify the pressure on this release mechanism?
